What do we need to know about the handling of seeds to grow microgreens?

Before being introduced to the market, each batch of seeds undergoes several accredited tests precisely to ensure the best germination rate, quality and organic certification.

Microgreens and sprouts grow best at room temperature in an airy space. Unfortunately, bacteria and mold also thrive in these conditions. In this regard, we must take into account several important aspects.

1. Always wash your hands before handling the seeds, touching the sprouts and subsequently the microplants and the hydroponic growing medium.
2. Utensils used for growing hemp seeds (hydroponic growing medium) must be impeccably clean.
3. Use only clean and cold water in contact with the seeds and growing medium.
4. Do not use more seeds per Ishkar tray than is individually specified for each type of plant in the Babylon Garden app.
5. Several types of seeds develop a white fluff during the germination stage that can easily be confused with gray mold (radish, sunflower, broccoli, mustard sprouts...).
6. Make sure the germinating seeds have adequate ventilation.
7. Microplants need light (without direct contact with the sun) and a temperature between 19-22 degrees.
8. Wash Babylon Garden utensils and equipment after each use, preferably in a dishwasher.
9. Make sure that the seeds in the germination stage have adequate ventilation.
10. Try to eat the sprouts immediately after harvesting, otherwise keep the sprouts wrapped in slightly opened packaging in the refrigerator to allow sufficient air circulation.
11. It is difficult to gauge how long they will keep in the fridge, so use your senses. Do the sprouts look nice and fresh? Does it smell good? Finally, do they taste good?
