What could we do in a small apartment space to be able to grow our own greens and ensure the most natural food possible ?
Our inspiration came from the fact that we live in a world where we eat increasingly unhealthily and on the run. So we tried to create a framework that would meet today's needs, given the fact that the amount of time we spend preparing food is getting shorter and shorter. We have succeeded in developing a system that provides nutrient-rich microgreens within 3 to 10 days. The system is designed to be placed in everyone's kitchen, takes up minimal space and is also designed as a design piece.
We tried to find a similarity between healthy people, beauty and nature, so our imagination led us to one of the wonders of the ancient world, the Babylonian Gardens. They were created precisely out of love for man and nature.
Babylon Garden project partners
In order find a solution for the development of the Babylon Garden hydroponic garden, we collaborated with Romanian researchers in the field of horticulture, IoT and polytechnics, including Prof. Univ. Dr. eng. Oliviu Matei, Dr. Conf. Paula Moraru, drd. Tudor Fărăgău, Ing. Alexandru Moga, Ing. Florin Trăilă, Ing. Adela Gorgan, Ing. Ioan Popa, Eng. Leonard Bodnar and Ing. Tókos József.
Also, the creation of Babylon Garden would not have been possible without the collaboration with many Romanian companies for whom we are very grateful.
1. Holisun (Maramures) - for the development of the Babylon Garden app, certainly a unique app in many ways.
2. Lineo Product Development (Timișoara), Prototype Line 3D (Sălaj) and Pasion Mob (Cluj) - to whom we would like to thank for making the 12 intermediate prototypes and the final Babylon Garden.
3. Prospero Technik (Odorheiu Secuiesc) for the development of plastic moulds.
4. Pasion Plus and USAMV Cluj - for the guidance received in order to develop growing recipes, their continuous optimization and seed quality testing.
5. The Government of Romania, the European Union, SADC Consulting and RCG Consulting Group for their support to the Babylon Garden project.
Babylon Gardem results and benefits
The results of our research far exceeded initial expectations and we’d like mention the top 6 features of the Babylon Garden system:
1. An eco-friendly and organic diet with up to 40 times more nutrition and at least 90% less water consumption than the mature plants found in supermarkets.
2. Predictable harvests of sprouts and shoots (microgreens) every 3-14 days, scalable by a large number of concurrent harvests for larger families. The Babylon Garden system is designed to double the average annual per capita consumption of root crops (relative to Romania).
3. Simplicity taken to the extreme for using the Babylon Garden system, just water the seeds once and harvest the sprouts in 3 days or microgreens in 7-14 days, it's that simple!
4. Diversity of organic seeds and dedicated recipes, so that the world of sprouts and microgreens is not just about salads and sandwiches.
5. 100% use of recyclable materials in Babylon Garden equipment, as well as the national first introduction of naturally processed hemp as a hydroponic growing medium for seeds.
6. Increased competition in the European organic seed market by introducing multiple varieties.
Like Nebuchadnezzar II, the Babylon Garden project and the motto "Heath is Homemade" are inspired by a love of people and nature in our quest to help you get closer to nature and enjoy the healthiest, most affordable food.
Thank you for your support in purchasing the Babylon Garden system and we invite you to visit our app.
Thank you for reducing your carbon footprint by purchasing an environmentally friendly product. By avoiding buying vegetables transported thousands of kilometres in disposable plastic to the corner shop, you are doing your bit to protect the ecosystem.
